Women’s Rights

Women's immigration rightsThere are millions of women globally who are being mistreated and denied essential rights. Unfortunately, it is very common for women to become victims of abuse, especially within their own families. Luckily, the United States is among a few countries that have strong law protecting women against violence.

The greatest benefit of the U.S. law is that it offers immigration benefits to those women who are foreign citizens and who are being abused, deprived of their rights, and discriminated against not only within the U.S. but also within their home countries.

That is why Los Angeles Immigration Center devotes a large portion of our attorney’s time to help foreign women obtain immigration benefits offered by U.S. immigration law and become lawful permanent residents of the United States.

There are many valuable options available to women who wish to become lawful permanent residents in the United States, including:

  • Asylum protection for women who suffer or fear that they will suffer persecution due to their race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion (read more)
  • Immigration benefits for lesbian women and their same-sex spouses (read more)
  • Protection under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and use of the battered spouse or child waiver (read more)
